Children are the ones who most often contract lice. It is not because lice prefer kids hair, but it is because of the way lice are spread. Lice are unable to jump or fly. They only spread through close contact which is usually head to head. They can also be spread by the sharing of hair brushes and other accessories and clothing. Children tend to come in this type of close contact more often than adults especially at school and sleepovers.

One of the first ways to prevent the spread of lice is to teach your children not to share clothing or personal care items, especially hair brushes or accessories. Sharing helmets in sports such as baseball can also be a problem. It is smart to purchase your own helmet and let your child know not to share.
The second step to lice prevention is early detection and treatment. If lice is found quickly and treated with the right lice shampoo often a full epidemic can be avoided. And don't think that means you have to use harmful chemicals on your child's head. You can use a natural lice treatment to kill lice and to remove nits. Natural oils in the right combination are safe and effective at killing lice. And natural enzymes can be used to help make it much easier to remove nits.
